Many women are insecure about the size of their chests. They focus on their breast size and believe that the larger it is, the more feminine they look. Others, however, simply want their breasts to look more natural on their body, fitting the shape that they have in a much more normal way. The best way to achieve the perfect look in a patient’s chest is to have them go through breast augmentation surgery. When they do, they have the option of choosing between silicone breast implants or saline breast implants.

Saline breast implants were created when the old standby, silicone implants, failed. The silicone breast implants would break open and women would experience serious sickness due to the leakage of the silicone. Saline implants were created using a similar silicone shell but using saline inside of the implants. This way, should the implants burst or leak, it was nothing but saline (which is safe for the body) that would be released into the bloodstream.

There have been many people, however, who have said they believe that the silicone implants look and feel much better, and much more realistic, than the saline breast implants. When you’re undergoing a breast augmentation, it is always preferable to have the breasts feel as normal as possible. With saline implants, many people feel that the implants feel too much like liquid and not enough like real breast tissue.

Others, however, disagree. With the new materials that silicone breast implants are made from, including a textured outer shell that is much more realistic feeling, most cosmetic surgeons are able to make the breasts feel as normal as real breast tissue with silicone implants. And they also argue that the silicone implants are much safer for the body. If you’re thinking about having a breast augmentation surgery, you will eventually need to select between silicone implants and saline implants. The choice is a personal one, but it is a good idea to speak with your cosmetic surgeon to see what option they feel is best for you, as they are the expert when it comes to doing a breast augmentation surgery.
