Dr. Philip Richardson performs breast augmentation with implants, or breast enlargement, at our Brisbane, Queensland practice to increase the size and enhance the shape of the breasts. It is also often suitable for women who have one breast that is larger than the other and would prefer greater symmetry. Dr. Richardson is an exceptional surgeon with a reputation for producing consistently beautiful results through a number of breast enhancement surgeries, including breast lift, breast reduction, and male breast reduction for gynaecomastia.
During the breast enlargement consultation at our Queensland-based practice, Dr. Richardson will determine exactly what size and shape you want your breasts to have. After measuring the dimensions of your breasts, Dr. Richardson will have you try on a number of trial implants so that you can get an idea of what the final results will look like with each. You are welcome to borrow trial implants to help with your decision.
At the consultation, Dr. Richardson will also fully discuss your surgical options, the operation, recovery, and risks, and he will answer all of your questions in a precise yet easy-to-understand manner. You should receive all the information you need to make your decision about breast augmentation.
We typically perform breast augmentation with implants at our practice in Brisbane, Queensland using general anaesthetic. The surgery involves the placement of an implant either behind the breast tissue or under the chest wall muscle, which is called the pectoral muscle. Once inserted, the breast implants will push or help lift the breast tissue forward, making the breasts appear larger and fuller.
There are several options available to breast enlargement patients at Brisbane Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery:
As with any surgery, there are risks involved with breast enlargement, such as an adverse response to the general anaesthetic, bruising, swelling, excessive bleeding, infection, and scarring. Other risks include capsular contracture, fluid build-up around the implant, changes in nipple sensation, implant leakage, rippling of the implant, and asymmetry. Serious adverse effects, however, are not common. Dr. Richardson does everything possible to prevent and treat negative side effects.
Patients should allow one to two weeks to recover after breast augmentation surgery before returning to work. Our nurse contacts patients daily after surgery to make sure that there are no complications. Patients should schedule post-operative check-ups for one week, two weeks, six weeks, six months, and 12 months after surgery (each of these appointments is covered by the original surgery fee). A crop-top is given to patients to wear for the first six weeks. This surgical garment supports the breasts and promotes proper healing. It is recommended that patients refrain from driving for at least two weeks after undergoing breast augmentation surgery and avoid partaking in rigorous exercise for at least six weeks.
