Breast Augmentation, Lift, and Reduction Surgery Recovery Information

At Brisbane Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery, we want all of our patients to have a comfortable and speedy recovery after their breast surgery procedures. To a great degree, this depends upon the willingness of our patients to adhere to the post-operative guidelines given to them by Dr. Philip Richardson. Below, we have provided a basic overview of what patients can expect after breast augmentation with implants, reduction, and lift surgery at our Brisbane, QLD practice. For the first two or three days after any breast surgery procedure, patients may experience fatigue and discomfort. It is important that patients get plenty of rest during this time. Optimally, they should be cared for by a responsible friend or family member. Any pain can be managed with medication prescribed by Dr. Richardson. One of our nurses contacts patients daily after surgery to ensure that they are not experiencing complications.

We provide our patients with a surgical garment to wear for the first six weeks after breast surgery. This garment provides support and promotes healing. It must be worn according to instructions.

Patients should refrain from engaging in strenuous activity after their breast augmentation, lift, or reduction surgery, including those that involve lifting or pushing, for at least six weeks. Driving should also be avoided for at least two weeks.

Check-ups are scheduled for one week, two weeks, six weeks, six months, and 12 months after breast surgery. For our patients' convenience, the cost of each of these follow-up appointments is included in the original surgery fee.
