An arm lift or reduction, also referred to as brachioplasty, is a surgical procedure that reduces excess skin and or fat from the arm area to create a slimmer, more shapely appearance or improve discomfort caused by excessive skin or tissue.

Brachioplasty is performed under general anaesthetic and is performed through incision into the upper arm. Skin and tissue is removed and the muscles will be tightened using sutures to improve the tone and tightness of the area. Brachioplasty is sometimes paired with liposuction to achieve optimal results. Brachioplasty may take up to three hours and after the operation you can expect a drainage tube in the wound to help prevent fluid build-up.

Following surgery it is normal to experience bruising and swelling, numbness, and some pain and discomfort which can be managed by taking the post-operative pain relief provided by Dr. Richardson. You may be fitted with a compression garment to help reduce swelling, and post-operative care instructions will be provided to you by Dr. Richardson and the nurses according to your personal circumstances and surgical requirements. You should rest as much as possible after your surgery, avoid strenuous exercise or heavy lifting for at least one month, and wear your compression garment for anywhere up to several weeks according to instructions.
