Types of Breast Lift Scars

The Crescent Lift Mastopexy

The crescent breast lift mastopexy is the least invasive breast lift mastopexy technique because there is only a small incision that runs along the top outer edge of the areola. The scar is practically invisible, however the amount of lift this method can achieve is minimal. Consequently, the crescent lift mastopexy may be suitable for some specific patients who have very minimal droop, however the pros and cons should be discussed with Dr. Richardson at your consultation.

The Donut Lift Mastopexy

The donut breast lift mastopexy — also known as peri-areolar mastopexy — is a type of breast lift mastopexy technique that involves incisions around the nipple only. It is considered a “mini breast lift” because it is limited in the amount of lift it can produce with such limited incisions. As a result, donut lift mastopexy is not commonly performed due to the lack of control over shape and size with this technique.

The Lollipop Lift Mastopexy

The lollipop breast lift mastopexy — also known as the vertical breast lift mastopexy — is another type of breast lift mastopexy technique. It involves incisions around the nipple and down to the fold of the breast, like a lollipop. This surgical approach provides greater control over the size and shape of the breast because it allows for greater tightening of the lower pole. Consequently, the lollipop lift mastopexy is suitable for patients with a small amount of breast droop and those who are not having a breast implant with their lift.

The Anchor Lift Mastopexy

The anchor lift mastopexy — otherwise known as the wise pattern lift — is Dr. Richardson’s most commonly performed method of breast lift mastopexy and breast reduction mammaplasty. The anchor lift mastopexy involves incisions around the nipple, down to the fold, and along the breast fold. The anchor lift mastopexy provides the greatest level of control over shape and size. This is an advantage that other breast lift mastopexy techniques do not possess due to their limited incisions. The scarring is more extensive for the anchor lift mastopexy, however this method generally produces the best lift results, and is necessary for patients that are having an implant alongside their lift mastopexy.

The outcomes shown are only relevant for this patient and do not necessarily reflect the results other patients may experience, as results may vary due to many factors including the individual’s genetics, diet and exercise.
