Breast Revision Surgery

Why choose

Breast Implant Revision

Fix implant rupture

Correct implant symmetry

How does revision surgery work?

Breast revision surgery is performed as a day procedure and involves the removal of a breast implant through the inframammary fold, and replacement with new implants. The procedure can often require intricate modifications to the breast implant pocket. Dr. Richardson may use other surgical interventions to address aesthetic concerns. Dr. Richardson will also perform the internal bra technique.

For breast revision surgery, the following breast implant placements are possible:

Under the muscle breast implant positioning (submuscular)
Over the muscle breast implant positioning (subglandular)
Dual plane breast implant positioning

Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. Before proceeding, you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner

There are various pros and cons to each implant position. As a result, the most suitable choice for each patient is dependent on anatomical and lifestyle considerations. At your initial consultation, Dr. Richardson will assess your anatomy, your goals as well as your lifestyle. This will determine what breast implant placement is most suitable. Breast implant revision costs in Australia are usually not covered by Medicare, however we do offer payment plans to help bring the surgery within reach.

What happens during revision surgery?

During breast implant revision surgery the patient is under general anaesthetic. The anaesthetist will constantly monitor the patient throughout their procedure. As a result, it is extremely important that the operation takes place in a fully-accredited hospital to ensure access to appropriate facilities in the case of any complications or emergency events. Dr. Richardson is a fully licensed plastic surgeon and as such, he has the necessary operating privileges to perform surgery at these fully-accredited hospitals.

The outcomes shown are only relevant for this patient and do not necessarily reflect the results other patients may experience, as results may vary due to many factors including the individual’s genetics, diet and exercise.

How long does breast implant replacement surgery take?

The breast implant revision surgery takes approximately 1.5-2 hours on the operating table, with a total of around 4-5 hours between admission and recovery for the patient.

What is an internal bra?

Internal bra is a surgical technique that involves the reinforcement of the lower-pole of the breast. This reinforcement is to help prevent implant displacement and bottoming-out. Internal bra, as the name suggests, aims to create additional lift and support. Patients undergoing breast implant revision in Brisbane with Dr. Richardson will have the internal bra technique performed during their surgery.

For those who are wondering about breast implant revision costs Australia, it’s important to know that Medicare does not usually cover this surgery. However, we do offer payment plans and will do our best to work with you to bring this procedure within financial reach if it’s something that you decide that you want.
